Washington state is rich in marine resources and maritime careers. The Marysville School District is excited to offer a new and innovative CTE manufacturing program (Marine Carpentry 101: “OUR CANOE”) to help students prepare for career paths within our community and around the globe.
Students will now have an opportunity to learn about boat building, tools/equipment, navigation, cultural influences, and shop safety with an emphasis on honoring the land and water that we live on.
The curriculum includes Local/Washington State geography and history so students can understand and appreciate our natural resources and communities that have flourished here for thousands of years.
The program is open to all Maysville students grades 9-12 and will be housed at a newly updated maritime workspace on the Totem Middle School campus. Transportation will be provided from/to Getchell, Pilchuck, Heritage, and Legacy High Schools.
The course utilizes the Maritime CORE PLUS curriculum. Check it out at https://coreplusmaritime.org/.
Interested Marysville Students can register for next school year this Spring! BEHOLD THE POWER OF CTE!
