Conservation Club Kidwind PNW Regional Challenge
March 15th and 22nd, 2025, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Tulalip Heritage High School, 7204 27th Ave NE, Tulalip, WA 98271
The Annual Conservation Club Regional KidWind Challenge has grown! This year, six schools are represented across elementary, middle, and high schools, with just eight teams competing last year and 29 teams registered for this year's competition. We have sent teams to KidWind Worlds for the previous 4 years, including a virtual National competition during Covid in 2020.
This year, we will be qualifying teams to attend the Worlds event in Arizona this May. The schools involved this year are Kellogg Marsh Elementary, Marshall Elementary, Pinewood Elementary, Allen Creek Elementary, 10th Street Middle, Heritage High School, and Marysville Middle School students. The competition has two dates: March 15th and March 22nd.
At our regional event, students compete in multiple competition elements, such as a solar circuit challenge, judges' interviews, wind tunnel testing of turbine blades and gear configurations, and a quiz bowl-style renewable energy knowledge exposition. Judges from the Marysville School District, Pacific Education Institute, and the PUD volunteer their time to support our students.
Heritage High School has the space and facilities to invite the community and families to observe and encourage our STEM students. These students have met before and after school for several months to prepare for this competition. “This being our 5th year, we have returning students from elementary school who will now be competing at the middle school level, with hopes they will continue with this work and return as high schoolers,” said Christie Ryba, Conservation Club Advisor.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The current windstorm is creating safety issues and concerns with buses transporting students home from school and for students who walk home from school. The district is getting reports about downed power lines, road closures, and trees and large limbs blocking access.
Buses are operating normally, transporting high school students now, and middle school and elementary school students at their dismissal times.
We are concerned about students who walk home from school and those who walk to their homes or daycare after the bus delivers them to their bus stop. The potential for downed power lines, large limbs, and trees creates a hazard.
The bus drivers will do their best to transport students to their drop-off locations safely. However, there may be delays or the possibility of a road not being accessible. If a road has been closed or inaccessible, the bus will return students to their school, and the school will notify parents.
Parents/guardians have the option of picking up their child(ren) at school. If you change your child’s go-home plans, please make arrangements with the school.
