FR: Jason Thompson, Superintendent
Our District Reconnect Plan includes six steps for a return to in-person instruction at school based on health, safety, and equity.
We are currently in Step 2 of the plan, however, behind-the-scenes work is happening at the district level and in our schools to prepare for Step 3 for early elementary students in grades PreK-1.
Most recently, families of students in grades PreK-1 were surveyed by their school to determine their comfort level with returning to in-person instruction. 77% of parents and guardians shared that they are comfortable with their child returning to in-person instruction.
While we currently do not have a specific date for the return of students in grades PreK-1, our goal is to move to Step 3 in early January. This time allows us to successfully plan for the safe return of all PreK-1 students and staff. A more detailed plan and timeline will be shared with the Board of Directors on November 18 with an update to families and staff to follow. Rest assured that the district will provide a minimum of three weeks’ notice so families can plan accordingly.
In the meantime, our teachers and students are working hard teaching and learning in their remote classrooms and each is doing their best. We are very proud of their efforts.
The health and safety of our students and staff is our priority. Thank you for your continued efforts and support.
